31 Makeup Looks, Improving My Makeup Skills,

After making my video entry for the NYX Face Awards this year, I  recently decided to challenge myself for the month of July by posting a makeup look each day on my Instagram. It was important to me to try this in order to improve my makeup & artistry skills. 
For years I've been creating soft, wearable makeup looks on my Youtube channel while occasionally doing wedding makeup for brides, usually in the summer season.  Although I did include some more "wearable" looks recently on my channel, my main plan was to branch out of what I've been doing more for the last few years and be as original, creative, and inspired as I can be. I also hope to vastly improve the quality of my channel & the content of my videos. 

*My 2014 NYX Face Awards Entry as mentioned. Be warned, I had just purchased a new voice-over mic and had no idea how to use it. I have since improved my audio. Thank GOODNESS! 

One Months of Makeup Looks:
*There were a couple of days I was sick (or had a devastating sunburn rather) so I posted a "throwback" look picture. Here are the looks I did in order of when they were posted:

1/30 Alien Avant Garde

I own an Urban Decay Electric Palette and I really decided to put it to use in this challenge. Starting with creating this other worldly being, that ends up looking unintentionally tribal. 
*This is one of the few photos taken with my Iphone 6 rather than my Canon Rebel T3i. I couldn't find my sim card this time. 

2/30 Rainbow Treasure Makeup

I had purchased a new Gold Eyeliner by Jordana Cosmetics and I apparently wanted to try it everywhere. Even on the tips of my lashes and in my eyebrows.
Used@urbandecaycosmetics Vice 2 Palette, Electric Palette. @jordana_cosmetics Gold Liquid liner in "Future".
3/30 Robotic Inspired

This one started off with a strong contour around the nose and clean eyebrows, but due to the fact that I had just bought a few of my first body paints I ended up dramatically carving out the edge of my cheek bone. I learned that it's not always easy to create clean lines, especially when you're in a hurry. But this was my first try with them. It's not a favorite, but it's not bad. Used @loraccosmetics Pro Palette for the eyes and @urbandecaycosmetics"Chaos" & "gonzo" for the blues.@nyxcosmetics Macaroon Lippie in "Earl Grey" & their older candy Glitter liner in "Lavender as an inner corner highlight. Used @bellapierreofficial Loose pigment in "Exite" as a cheekbone highlight again (I actually got this from a @boxycharmBox and I use it a TON!) I am blue dee Aba die. 

4/30 Lazy Wing Dots

This was my makeup for the 4th of July. I wanted a little but of fireworks inspiration without wearing anything too heavy on a hot day. 

5/30 Feathery Lines & Lip Art I decide to play with white liner and go with the flow, giving a sort of feathery bird look. This was also my first full try at lip art! Which left me wishing I had a bigger upper lip to work with. :P Either way I loved doing it! Used: @nyxcosmetics white liquid liner, purple liner, Pigment in "true purple pearl", Prismatic eyeshadow in "mermaid" and@jordana_cosmetics cat eye liner in "Twilight".



6/30 Neutrals & Gold Accents

Used: @urbandecaycosmetics NAKED 3 Palette. 
@jordana_cosmetics Cat Eyeliner in "08 Future".
@maybelline lipstick in "875 elegant lilac".

7/30 Glam Skull

This Half Glam/ Half Skull look is inspired by a tutorial I saw Chrisspy create on her YouTube channel.  Used: @urbandecaycosmetics Naked a palette on the eyes with@jordana_cosmetics cat eye liner in "future".Snazaroo paints in white and black and black eyeshadow.

 8/30 Sporty Avant Garde Shapes with Paints

I wanted to play with my new paints but I only ended up liking one side of my face. Hence the mirrored picture.

 9/30 Rose Gold & Lilac Lips

Used: @urbandecaycosmetics Vice 2 Palette (the whole bottom Row of colors), and Half baked from the Naked Palette. @maybelline lipstick in "Elegant Lilac".@itcosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil on my brows and Vitality face disk on cheeks as blush, contour and highlight. 

10/30 Batman / Batwoman Warpaint

This look is inspired by Batwoman.. If she was a badass warrior in another time period. warrior paint ya know? What I mean?Used: Snazaroo Facepaints in black, white, and red. @nyxcosmetics white liquid liner. @urbandecaycosmetics eye shadows in "revolt", "verve", & "pistol".@itcosmetics No-Tug Waterproof water liner on the lash line. @loraccosmeticstaupe & black eyeshadow from the Pro Palette.

11/30 Purple Haze

Used: @urbandecaycosmetics Electric Palette. @nyxcosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in "London".

12/30 Poison Ivy / Fairy

Used: @urbandecaycosmeticsElectric Palette, @nyxcosmetics loose pearl pigments and wet them with setting spray to paint the top half of my face and highlight my lips (which in retrospect I probably shouldn't have done because it needs to be not shiny somewhere😜) . 

Used NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in "London" for lips and Prismatic Eyeshadow in "frostbite" to highlight my cheek bones, chin, and middle of my forehead. Various NYX glitters on my face. Also used Snazaroo body paint in green to paint the vines and green and black eyeshadow to shade it.

13/30 Alien

As you may have noticed, I have a thing for SciFi. Used: Face Paints By Snazaroo.@urbandecaycosmetics Electric Palette@nyxcosmetics White liquid liner.

14/30 Smear Lip Art

I wanted to try something messy and haphazard.



15/30 Wearable Color-Nude & Electric

Eye look with teal and chartreuse on the waterline and lash line and peekaboo purple liner. All paired with a neutral lid. 

Used:  Urban Decay Electric Palettte, @nyxcosmetics Liquid Liner in "extreme purple", teal mascara, & Slide On Liner in "Azure". NYX  High Voltage Lipstick in "Flawless". 

16/30  Purple & Trickling Gold

I should have left it alone and focused and my Cleopatra inspired eye. 😑 Ahh well. Used: @jordana_cosmetics Cat eye liner in "Gold". @physiciansformula Liquid Liner 2-in -1 serum pen. @loraccosmeticsEyeshadow in "Deep Plum" and "Gold".@urbandecaycosmetics eyeshadow in "Chaos" and "Urban".

17/30 "Sparkly Herpes" my boyfriend named this. hehe

Used: @nyxcosmeticsMacaroon Lippie in "Early Grey" & white liquid liner for dotting details. Swarovski Crystals from Michaels.@urbandecaycosmetics eyeshadow in urban used for purples shading. *Note if I look slightly paler than usual here it's cuz I powdered my face in white. Glitters from @hardcandylife & @wetnwildbeauty 

18/30 Throwback Look, Jessica Rabbit-ish Hair and Red Ombre Lip

I'm pretty sure I'm wearing Riri Woo by Mac here layered with some gloss and shaded with an eyeshadow. 

20/30 Space Face

This look was very fun and easy to do. It came more effortlessly than many of my other looks because I love doing galaxy themed makeup. Weirdly enough, this look is one of my most liked looks on my Instagram.
Used: @nyxcosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencils in milk & black bean for a base. NYX's Vinyl liquid liner & white liquid liner. & glitter liners. @urbandecaycosmeticsElectric palette and black eyeshadow.

21/30 Zora Inspired

I can't decide whether this looks like a high-fashion Zora or a Lady Gaga Fish. Used: @officialsnazaroo White face paint.@urbandecaycosmetics Electric palette.@nyxcosmetics Vinyl liquid liner, white liquid liner, & various glitter liners. NYX macaroon lippie in Lavender.

22/30 Blue Lips & the Stars

Blue Lip Art. Used: @nyxcosmetics Macaroon Lippie in "pistachio", Slide on liner in "Azure", Studio liquid liners in "Extreme blue" & "Extreme purple", Prismatic eyeshadow in "frostbite" to highlight. I also used a blue eyeshadow its on the upper lip blending down. Star-shaped craft glitters were found at Michael's.

23/30 Less Chaotic Blue Lip Art
I overdrew my lip more. Than. I. Ever. Have. In my life here! It turned out okay, but not really my cup of tea for daily wear. Used: @nyxcosmetics Macaroon Lippie in "pistachio", Slide on liner in "Azure", Prismatic eyeshadow in "frostbite" to highlight. I also used a blue eyeshadow its on the upper lip blending down. Star-shaped craft glitters were found at Michael's.

24/30 Avant Garde Purple & Pearl

Decided to try some Avant Garde purple drippage! I learned about what liquids to use with pigments to create a nice drip from Mykie for Glam & Gore on Youtube. Actually I've learned a buttload from her.  This is my first try at "dripping". Used: @nyxcosmetics Loose Pigment in "true purple pearl" & Vinyl Liquid Liner. @bellapierreofficial Loose pigment in "Exite". @maccosmetics Lipstick in "Heroine". @loraccosmetics Pro Palette "taupe" used to contour the lids.

25/30 Before & After Contour with Cream

Playing around with contour using the @nyxcosmeticsWonder Stick in "WS01 light/medium". I don't usually use cream products or an extreme contour but these shades are PERFECT for fair skin.

26/30 Fierce Deity Link Face Paint

Products: "removed"my eyebrows with Elmers glue & Elf studio HD powder.@officialsnazaroo body paints and red, white, & black. @nyxcosmetics Vinyl Liquid liner, eyeshadow in "raven" for shading as well as @loraccosmeticseyeshadow in "Taupe". Used@urbandecaycosmetics in "gonzo" to shade blue around the white eyes. *Majora Print bought at Comic con, not by me.

27/30 R2D2 Lip Art

Products Used: @nyxcosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk". Studio Liquid Liner in "extreme silver" & Vinyl Liquid Liner.@jordana_cosmetics Cateye Liner in "Twilight". I didn't have a red rhinestone so I used @nyxcosmetics High Voltage Lipstick in "Hollywood" to paint it.

28/30 Bronze Avant Garde

Used: @micabeauty Pigment in "Bronze". Gold glitter. @nyxcosmetics Wicked Lashes "Teased". & Vinyl Liquid Liner.@jordana_cosmetics Cat Eyeliner in "Future". @urbandecaycosmeticseyeshadow "sidecar" which is mostly covered.

29/30 Sun Goddess Inspired

Used: @nyxcosmetics Jumbo Eye pencil in "black bean". Prismatic shadow in "Mermaid", loose pearl pigment in "pearl yellow". @jordana_cosmetics Cateye liner in "Future". @urbandecaycosmeticsEyeshadows in half-baked, chaos, and urban. Also used @beccacosmeticsShimmering Skin Perfector in "Moonstone" EVERYWHERE.

30/30 Negative Image Skull

So this would be one of those instances where I tried something, but had little knowledge on how to properly light an all black look. So basically ALL of the bright colors I used got washed out. I even thought twice about posting this but this was one of my last days for the 30 day challenge . 😭 Ah well I will try again. This "Negative Skull" is inspired by@alexfaction who is essentially the Skull KING of YouTube. He is sooo inspiring to me and I hope some day to create some skull looks that are even half as bad ass as his.

31/30 Strobbing Cheekbones Alien

Used: @nyxcosmetics Prismatic Eyeshadow mermaid, frostbite, & punk heart, Jumbo eye pencils in Milk & Purple. Colored Mascara in Mint Julip, Vinyl Liner in black.@urbandecaycosmetics Eyeshadows in Gonzo & Chaos. So there's 31 looks total. I just had to put them all in one place so I could look back on them in a year and compare my skills and technique. There's a lot of looks I'm proud to have tried, but several I wish I could done a better job on. I feel many makeup artist feel this way, but I hope use everything I've as a point of reference from where I started when I began opening up.
